Simple. Wireless. Effortless.

AgPilotX is a new and innovative guidance system built by Insero for aerial applicators.

It uses 3 simple, wireless components to accomplish everything a pilot needs –1) a Lightbar, 2) a Hub and 3) an Apple iPad.

All the components are “smart” meaning they run off their own computer and work independently of the other devices.  All 3 devices work in concert and communicate to each other wirelessly.

Devices

The AgPilotX System includes the latest cell-based Apple iPad Pro with the AgPilotX App pre-loaded. Any time a software update is available, it will prompt the user to update with one button push. Additionally, you can download the free AgPilotX App from the Apple App Store onto any Apple device.

If the Apple device is connected to the internet, AgPilotX will display Apple Maps (Imagery, Street Maps or Hybrid) as a background. If you are not connected, AgPilotX will simply draw the aircraft path and paint the swaths over a blank background. Shape files can be emailed or loaded to view in the AgPilotX App as well. Certain software packages like Chem Man can even push Shape files directly to AgPilotX.

Smart Light Bar

The AgPilotX Smart Lightbar provides guidance and has the GPS/GNSS onboard. It also includes the GPS/GNSS Antenna so there is no need to run an antenna up to the aircraft canopy. All data is initially stored in the Lightbar and can be moved in a number of ways (to a USB stick or wirelessly to an iPad/iPhone or even pushed directly to the cloud).

Insero’s GPS/GNSS receiver also uses GLONASS satellites, doubling the number of satellites wherever the aircraft is flying. This is especially helpful when satellite coverage is spotty at certain times of the day or in particular areas.

Smart Hub

The small Hub provides a location to connect switches and devices. Aircraft swath advance/decrease switch, spray on/off and even the Laser Altimeter wires connect here. The Smart Hub also serves as the Flow Controller. Connect the meter and valve to the Hub. No additional boxes necessary.

No more bulky cannon plugs. Connect all wiring directly to the back of the removable connectors in the Hub. No more drilling large holes in the aircraft to feed oversized connectors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use an older Flow Controller with AgPilotX?

You do not need to use any Controller with AgPilotX.  The AgPilotX is a Controller and you can plug any meter and valve directly into the Hub for operation with no need for a third-party controller.

Can I plug a Reabe Gate into an AgPilotX?

Yes – Right now we’re just generically calling it CAN BUS Dry Gate Controller on Page 1 of our wiring documentation.

I plugged my MVP into the AgPilotX according to your wiring diagram and nothing happens. Why?

The EI MVP device needs to be setup to output the proper string of information so the AgPilotX can read it and display torque and temp on the Lightbar.  Certain older models do require additional hardware updates.  Please contact EI to configure the output of the data to the AgPilotX Lightbar.

I just bought a new iPad Pro and will use it with an AgPilotX that I purchased a few years ago. The iPad charges but not fast enough. Why?

The new iPad Pros require a special “smart” circuitry for the proper charging of the iPad Pro.  Although any Apple device will work with the AgPilotX, the charging circuit in the Hub must be updated before it will properly fully charge the latest versions of iPad Pro.  Please contact Insero to get your Hub updated if you want it to handle the charging of the iPad Pro.

Does the Apple product need to be connected to the internet to work?

No.  However, connecting to the internet enhances the pilot’s experience by offering features like continuous background imagery.  The system will work fine without a connection and will even cache some maps if they are pre-loaded in areas where the aircraft has a connection (from places like the hangar Wi-Fi)

Can I trust the wireless in the AgPilotX system?

Yes, the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless connections in AgPilotX have proven to be robust.  Insero built AgPilotX with the option to hard connect the Lightbar and Hub.  The system has been tested comparing the wireless to the wired connections, and it has been proven that there is no difference in functionality and performance.  There are some exceptions in the presence of illegal jamming devices but these are rare if ever seen.  Contact Insero if you experience this – the FCC will assist us in these cases.

Other Features

Background mapping

AgPilotX is the only product that offers you situational awareness through the use of background maps. Have confidence in where you are.

Integrates with other products

AgPilotX integrates with many other products like Chem-Man Online, MVP, and AgSync to create an easy to use work-flow.

Ease of Installation

Installing AgPilotX is simple and straightforward. Apply Power to the lightbar and hub, connect the switches, and go to work.
